Join us in welcoming new Sun Devil Baseball head coach Tracy Smith.  Coach Smith comes to us from Indiana University where he had a lot of success including Big-10 titles, NCAA post-season wins, National Coach of the Year honors and a College World Series appearance. In addition, he is very excited about being a Sun Devil and leading one of the premier college baseball programs in the country. If you are interested, please follow him at @ASUSkip.

Congratulations to Bryan McBride and Shelby Houlihan for winning National Championships at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Finals.  McBride took home the high jump title with a career best of 2.28m (7-5.75).  Houlihan won the 1500m title with a time of 4:18.10.  Josh Dixon took 18th in triple jump.  The Men’s 4x100m Relay team of Milus, Henry, Spann, and Collins took 7th and the Men’s 4x400m Relay team of Cleveland, Henry, Collins, and Spann took 5th.

Quarterback Taylor Kelly is already receiving national attention in the month of June.  College Gameday tweeted Mel Kiper’s top 5 senior quarterbacks for this year.  Kelly made the list at #4 behind Bryce Petty (Baylor), Sean Mannion (Oregon State), and Braxton Miller (Ohio State).

Speaking of football, early rankings are out and the Sun Devils appear in the top 25 in almost all of them.  ESPN has ASU at No. 23, CBS Sports ranks the Sun Devils  No. 22 and Athlon Sports has us at No.  17.  Perhaps the national media has bought into Coach Graham’s #UnfinishedBusiness.

Remember students have access to all sporting events this year!  That’s right, the athletics fee passed which now allows all students access to tickets for football and men’s basketball.  Students just need to show up and scan their Sun Card for tickets on gameday.

The 942 Crew is growing and becoming known around the nation.  Students are welcome to join and attend meetings to help build up “The Inferno”.  Meetings are Fridays during the summer at 3:30 p.m. in the Sun Devils Sports Performance Complex.

Students

The Sun Devil Men’s Basketball team returns to Wells Fargo Arena for the final two home games of the season. The Sun Devils are 14-1 at home this year. Our home court advantage is needed to help lock up a NCAA tournament bid. The total season student attendance record is 13,632, we are only 1,253 students away from breaking it this year! With only two games left lets shatter the record and send seniors Jahii Carson, Jordan Bachynski, Jermaine Marshall, Shaquille McKissic, Richie Edwards, Jarrett Upchurch and Dave Whitemore out the right way!

ASU vs. Stanford – Wednesday, February 26, 9:00 p.m.,  ESPNU

ASU is battling Stanford for one of the top four spots in the conference and an opening round bye in the Pac-12 Conference Tournament. Have a night class on Wednesday night?  Game doesn’t start until 9:00 pm so come on out after class!

ASU vs. California – Saturday, March 1, 4:00 p.m., Fox Sports One – Senior Day

March Madness is on the horizon and this game is going to start it all off.  In addition to paying tribute to our seniors in their final home game, there are several other promotions for this game:

  • Remaining Item Give-Away – Missed getting something from one of our previous giveaways?  A limited number of previous give-away items will be available at this game.
  • Student 13,632 – We should break our all-time student season attendance record at this game.  The student that is #13,632 wins a trip to Las Vegas for the Pac-12 MBKB Tournament and an autographed ball.  Also, if we break our single game record of 1,529 all students can stay after the game for a picture on the court.
  • Senior Picture- All seniors can stay after for a senior picture on the court.
  • Flip Card Event – Be a part of ASU’s largest flip card event in the second half.
